Midwest New Media launches secure online document sharing service
February 8, 2008
Midwest New Media, LLC has launched a new web-based service, SendItWisely, that allows business professionals and individuals to share documents securely, rather than sending sensitive information via e-mail.
Users can create a free account and share files up to 2MB in size, with a limit of three file shares per month. Enhanced services, which are available for a low monthly fee, allow for larger files and additional file shares per month, as well as file retrieval and re-sending.
The SendItWisely service, located at www.senditwisely.com, was created to meet the needs of business owners and individuals who want to avoid compromising sensitive data, and otherwise would have to waste time and money by mailing documents, sharing them on a CD, or even worse, sending them insecurely via e-mail.
"SendItWisely is especially useful for accountants, attorneys, and other professionals who commonly must share information such as Social Security and bank account numbers," said Tom Nagel, president of Midwest New Media, LLC.
The service works using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to transfer the sender's file to the recipient. First, the sender chooses the file to be shared and specifies the name and e-mail address of the recipient. Then, the recipient is notified by e-mail and is directed to the SendItWisely web site. Finally, the file is downloaded by the recipient over an SSL connection.
SendItWisely is currently in beta testing mode, and users are invited to send feedback and comments to beta@senditwisely.com.
